From Inverness

Cross the Kessock bridge and drive north west to Ullapool on the A835. The scenery becomes progressively more magnificent with every mile. You enter a rugged landscape filled with mountains, lochs, streams and waterfalls. Stop for photographs and to stretch your legs at the Black Falls and Corrieshalloch Gorge.

When you arrive in Ullapool, a coffee or lunch at the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool is a must! Visit the incredibly interesting local museum and walk around the bustling harbour.

Leaving Ullapool, drive north on the A835 A837 past Loch Assynt and Ardvreck Castle towards Lochinver. Mountains dominate a landscape dotted with lochs.

At Lochinver, turn right onto the B869, a single track road with passing places. This section will be one of the highlights of your journey. Watch out for highland cattle wandering on the road! After twisting and turning for 6 miles you arrive at Clachtoll Bay.

The sea provides the vista in front. In the distance, the outline of the Hebridean islands can be seen on the horizon. Turn left onto the road leading to the beach, and left again following the track to the bothy. At this point , you will see Am Port Creadach. [ Clay Port ] Drive through the gates ...and you are there!
